ELIZABETH MINISTRY:
Provides meals and a gift basket when a baby is born. Ladies are needed to help as well as to be served upon birth of a child.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS TO NURSING HOMES AND SHUT-INS:
Brings the Eucharist to those unable to come to mass. Volunteers must be commissioned Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
FUNERAL LUNCHEON PROGRAM:
Ministers to families who have just experienced the death of a loved one by providing a meal after the internment. Volunteers are called on a rotating basis and may donate a dish (dessert, side or salad) which will then be served at the luncheon. Or, volunteers may assist on one of four teams who set up, serve, and clean up after lunch on a rotating basis.
HOSPITALITY:
Persons on this team help serve coffee and donuts after the 9:00 or 11:00 am masses on the first and third Sundays, October-May. Volunteers usually serve not more than twice a year.
FAMILY PROMISE:
Family Promise is a consolidation of faith congregations caring for families in need of shelter, meals and compassionate assistance that leads them to secure a stable home environment. St. Augustine is involved primarily through the Christmas Giving Tree.
VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY:
Through generous donations from parishioners and others, SVDP helps poor and needy Barberton residents with utilities and rent.
SOUP KITCHEN:
As a 25-year+ member of the Coalition of Concerned Christians, St. Augustine parishioners cook and serve meals for the economically disadvantaged of our community. Meals are served twice a week at the First Presbyterian Church. Churches involved serve on a rotating basis. Volunteers and monetary donations are needed.
